Essentials of Consumer Lending

This one-day program is for new hires and branch personnel expanding into consumer lending and those charged with organizing and managing consumer loans. It is excellent preparation for those interested in attending The Southeastern School of Consumer LendingSM. The workshop will address credit decision-making, as well as the human relations aspect of lending. It includes case studies and role-playing to acquaint attendees with effective interviewing skills and to improve credit decisions. It also includes discussion on the concepts of secured lending, an analysis of decision-making, and major changes to mortgage underwriting standards. The class will walk-through both the Personal Financial Statement and Tax Returns (personal and business) to determine capacity while discussing subjective issues.

managers, and management trainees. It is excellent preparation for those interested in attending The Southeastern School of Consumer Lending. The school is conducted by the Tennessee Bankers Association in cooperation with the Georgia and Louisiana Bankers associations.

 

Presenter
David L. Kemp is president of Bankers Management Inc (BMI), formerly The Management Group. BMI is a nationally recognized company in financial services training and bank consulting. Prior to forming BMI, Kemp served as vice president, director of credit services for Cannon Lending Schools.
Kemp has more than 30 years of management experience in consulting, training credit administration, and new business development. His areas of expertise include commercial lending, consumer lending, portfolio management, real estate lending, workouts, and director responsibilities.
Kemp earned his B.S. degree from Morris Brown College and he completed graduate studies in accounting and corporate finance at Georgia State University and in capital markets and corporate finance at Harvard University.

Delivery Method and Program Level/Content
This is a live, group internet-based overview program. There is no prerequisites or advanced preparation needed.  Each participant will receive a manual as a reference guide with vital information participants can use every day. The instructor will take time to discuss and answer questions that participants may have and will share important and practical information concerning the tax returns.


Continuing Education Credit
Attendees qualify for 13 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit in the area of specialized knowledge and MUST be sure to sign in and out on the CPE attendance tracking sheet in order to receive credit.  In accordance with the standards of the National Registry of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Sponsors, CPE credits have been granted based on a 50-minute hour.

Tennessee Bankers Association is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors (150 Fourth Avenue North, Suite 700, Nashville, TN, 37219-2417).
