JOB SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE

The Controller establishes, coordinates and maintains an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the financial institution and provides financial consolidation of branches or subsidiaries.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 This position performs the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Ensures that the financial institution’s accounting procedures are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Responsible for the preparation of various monthly and quarterly financial reports for the board and senior management.
  • Responsible for preparing various regulatory reports.
  • Responsible for maintaining the fixed assets accounting system in compliance with the bank’s policy and current tax laws.
  • Responsible for maintaining prepaid expense and accrued expense systems in compliance with GAAP.
  • Responsible for completing various reconciliations.
  • Assist CFO and accounting staff with external audits, internal audits and examinations.
  • Assist CFO in the preparation of the annual audited financial statements and footnotes.
  • Assist CFO with the preparation of budgets and periodic analysis of budget variance.
  • Assist CFO with the preparation of all tax returns and quarterly tax estimates.
  • Performs other accounting and finance duties, as assigned by CFO.

 

SPECIFIC GOALS

  • Responsible for managing the monthly and quarterly reconciliation process and ensuring all reconciliations are completed timely and accuracy.
  • Complete all required education and training assignments.

    

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business degree with major in accounting
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 or more years of related experience.
  • Excellent supervisory, communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel a must.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Access a plus.
