2409-8 VP Lending – Energy Project Finance

The VP of Lending—Energy Project Finance—supports Pathway Lending’s goals, values, and philosophy by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, quality service, commitment, and accountability.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Working under the policy direction of Pathway Lending and under the general supervision of the SVP Sustainability Programs this position provides support in administrative areas. The VP Mortgage Loan Officer will assist with generation of commercial loan requests that aligns with Pathway Lending’s focus on solar, renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainability, and community development with its mission. This role will be instrumental in identifying, pursuing, and securing new loan opportunities that qualify and meet the goals of Pathway Lending’s Sustainability Program.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  N/A

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Develops and implements strategies to generate new loan opportunities that align with Pathway’s Sustainability Program that promotes solar, renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainability, and community development. Identifies and cultivates relationships with developers, financial institutions, property owners, and others involved in the commercial real estate sector. Leverages networks within the commercial real estate sector to encourage and develop new loan opportunities.
  2. Engages with prospective clients to identify their credit needs and present suitable loan products that can address those needs. Collaborates with the CRE Analyst to ensure loan opportunities meet underwriting criteria and Pathway’s goals and mission. Guides clients through the loan application process ensuring they are kept informed from initial contact to loan approval, addressing any issues that arise to ensure high level of satisfaction and repeat business.
  3. Attends industry events, conferences, and networking events to promote Pathway’s Sustainability Program and generate new leads.
  4. Conducts market research to identify trends and opportunities in the commercial real estate sector, with particular focus on matters relation to solar and renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainability. Stays informed on federal and state programs such as Clean Commercial Investment Act (CCIA) and Greenhouse Gas Reduction (GHGR) programs with the intent of strengthening Pathway’s Sustainability Program and provide the benefits of those programs to existing and potential clients.
  5. Works with the SVP Sustainability Programs to develop and present relevant information and data both internally and externally and develop strategies to increase sustainable energy lending.
  6. Contributes to the development of marketing materials and sales tools to support loan origination efforts for the Sustainability Program.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Strong sales and negotiation skills with the ability to find and close deals effectively. Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service. Knowledge of energy efficiency practices, including solar and renewable energy, sustainability initiatives and federal and state energy programs such as GHGR and CCIA. Attention to detail and accuracy, excellent written, and communication.  Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service with clients, partners, stakeholders, and team members   Strong Microsoft Office skills including Adobe, and ability to navigate multiple computer systems, applications, and utilize search tools. Ability to meet or exceed business goals and objectives, while fostering a team atmosphere. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is a plus. Experience working at a financial institution or CDFI in a role covering energy efficiency, solar and renewable energy finance, sustainability, or community development is highly desirable. 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, business development or sales with a proven record of successful loan originations. Relevant certifications in real estate, finance, or sales such as Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) are a plus. Ability to perform in a fast paced, high demand environment with minimal oversight while balancing multiple priorities.

Ability to communicate in English, remain in a stationary position 75% of workday, move, cognitive of job responsibilities; ability to travel if required; and ability to adapt to a changing work environment. Aligns with Pathway Lending’s mission of providing clients and stakeholders with the highest level of service to facilitate their success and the economic growth of our CDFI market
