Billy Carroll Elected 2024-2025 TBA Chairman

Billy Carroll, president and CEO of SmartBank in Knoxville, was installed as chairman of the Tennessee Bankers Association during ceremonies at the 134th Annual Meeting closing banquet on Tuesday, June 18. Carroll accepted the chairman’s gavel from Jim Rieniets, president and CEO of InsBank in Nashville. Rieniets will remain a member of the Association’s board of directors for the next three years to help ensure continuity of leadership.

Every year, delegates from TBA-member banks elect a new executive team and board members at the Association’s annual convention. Each member institution has a single vote per charter.

  • East Tennessee Director—Will Barrett, President and CEO, Bank of Tennessee, Johnson City
  • Middle Tennessee Director—Mike Rowland, President and CEO, First Vision Bank, Tullahoma
  • West Tennessee Director—Johnny Moore, Regional President, Truist Bank, Memphis

With the election of the new directors, two directors rotated off of the board. Completing their terms of service were:

  • Andy Nash, President and CEO, The Farmers Bank, Portland
  • Phillip Renfroe, President and CEO, Community Bank, Lexington

Continuing their terms on the board are:

  • Wright Cox, President and CEO, BankTennessee, Collierville
  • Scott Cocanougher, CEO, First Community Bank of Tennessee, Shelbyville
  • Robert Barger, President and CEO, First Century Bank, Tazewell
  • Chris Reece, CEO, Johnson County Bank, Mountain City
