Position Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Controller with general ledger accounting and the preparation of management and regulatory financial reports. This position will also interact with internal and external audit resources in addition to participating in Ad Hoc projects regarding financial reporting.

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports and ensures timely and accurate month-end closeout, including the consolidation of financial statements.
  • Maintains recordkeeping for stock-based compensation, investment securities, credit cards, BOLI, mortgage compensation, fixed assets, and prepaids.
  • Supports the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Prepares and assists with quarterly Call Reports and other regulatory reports, annual financial statements, and tax accrual calculations.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliations and conducts GL maintenance.
  • Supports expense report function and accounts payable.
  • Assists with the preparation of board reports, monthly management reports, and ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Assists the Controller with audit and exam requests.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of GAAP, FDICIA Internal Controls, and accounting standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Essential Competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal tax laws applicable to the bank.
  • Thorough understanding of the bank’s core accounting system.
  • Strong interpersonal skills both with external contacts and other bank employees.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Time management skills.
  • Resourceful and well-organized.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office products.
  • General knowledge of the bank’s other products and services.

 

 

 

Essential Experience:

  • At least 3 years of banking or public accounting experience.

 

 

 

Preferred Experience:

  • SEC Reporting experience.
  • FDICIA Compliance.
  • CPA or working towards designation.
  • At least 5 years of banking or public accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of AvidAscend, FedReporter, CSI systems.

 

 

 

Essential Education:

  • College degree with preferred major in accounting or finance or comparable experience.
